NORTH KOREA: KIM JONG IL
-Yesterday we watched a movie about North Korea and al so about North Korea leader Kim Jong Il, who has the absolute power in North Korea after his father death Kim Il Sung. Although Kim Jong Il is a autocratic leader who decide all the thing by himself, all the people of North Korea have to follow every single orders he gave, he hardly take any advises from other people. People in North Korea being taught when they was only a child to love their autocratic leader, they also have many songs to sing about how great is Kim Jong Il. If anybody ever ask North Korea people about Kim Jong Il they just says how great he is, he has no mistakes at all.We also learned from the movie that North Korea is separate from the rest of the world, they only contract with South Korea to offer money from them. Between North and South Korea is the border to separate them from each other, in here they have electric fence, mines and guards to keep people from North Korea escaped their country to go to South Korea, there also another border between china and North Korea but since they are allies and there were so much people escaped North Korea to go to China so every time China caught the North Korea people escaped from heir country, China would put them into a prison to feed them and wait for the amount of number of people then they send them back to their country. North Korea usually killed the people who being given back to them because they abandoned their own country.

Dream Car

My dream car would be the 2005 BMW 3 series E90 Sedan. Growing up as a kid my mom had a BMW and my dad had a Benz though both were old they were very nice and classy. I picked the BMW because I either wanted to get a BMW or a Benz when I grew up, however though the Mercedes Benz is so expensive I opted for the BMW(2005 BMW 3 series E90 Sedan), which has an excellent mpg (29.1).
The importance of having a great mpg is that first of all you don't really bother the environment meaning you do not burn a lot of fuel. For example an electric car with a high mpg barely burns fuel therefore there is no reason to re-fill the car and as a result you are not harming the environment (less to burn).

Now North Korea is communism, so Kim Jung Il control everything. North Korean’s citizens are starving but Kim Jung Il and a person who working in government they are very rich so they buying a lot of brand-name products even their citizen are dying because of no food. This is ridiculous because North Korean’s citizens are thinking Kim Jung Il is the god so they are bow to Kim Jung Il. Other country like South Korea we donating a lot of money for their citizen but the government take the money and then use that money for developing the nuclear bomb and kind of weapons. The government choose weapon instead of citizen even war will not occur right now. A lot of people who living in North Korea they hate the life in North Korea so they trying to get out of North Korea through DMZ or go to China and the go to South Korea in secret, but during they getting out from North Korea a lot of people dying because North Korea government doesn’t want their citizen get out of North Korea in secret so their army just shoot them so a lot of people dying. Entry- Chinese sales Apartment Situation
25 days. After 25 days, I can go back to China and hand out with my friends. First of all, I want to go traveling with them to go to some very beautiful place in China. But first of all, they need money from their parents. And one of my friends parents is in a financial difficulty. He investment for a big shopping Mall I China, it is a good place. But because of it is too expensive, not a lot of people want to sale there. A lot of rich people live that place and people investment this program. Then the other business men or companies buy lots of the stores, and they sale that more and more expensive. So people can’t not buy that expensively stores. The Mall doesn’t work well, and then his daddy can’t make money although lost money.
Also that like the same things we saw in the Entry class. Chinese is being polarization. Rich people have money and relation with the government and the society. Then if a new building for apartment is being done with build, then rich people pay for the developer about the builder. Then those rich people can buy many houses before it sale to the citizens that very need it. So rich people sale it more expensive and the normal citizens can’t buy it really. Then they should work hard, and harder, then the rich people and the developer make money and the citizens lose money.
Also talk about the shopping mall. The developer doesn’t care about how the stores work. Just sale it to some rich people to driven it. The developer won’t care how it works, just sale it. Then the rich people can’t sale it well to the citizens because it is too expensive, so it will be horrible place that without people shop there.

Nowadays, China is the biggest developing country in the world. Especially in the economic area, Chinese government made big success.
But when a country developed so fast, this country must face more and more problem. These day, this thing have happened in China.
In some developing areas, the local government allowed motion that build more supermarkets and built more apartments. Government wanted to use this way to get the high GDP, provide more jobs and improve the people life.
However, they began to make trouble.
There are two sides in everything. It is same on real estate. At the beginning of the real estate, everything is normal. Government just wanted to develop our country more and more beautiful. Real estate also can provide more jobs, therefore is can improve people life. In fact, many years ago, most Chinese didn’t have apartment to live. They didn’t enjoy a comfortable life. So, at that time, Chinese government must to develop real estate
However, when someone found real estate is a good way to make more money, everything is change. Because developing real estate is not just a way that improve people’s life. It has become a tool that a few people make money.
So government passes more and more motion about real estate. So we can see engineering brigade is everywhere in China. And most of them is waste money. For example, some local government built some huge supermarket but when it finished. Nobody goes shopping there. So it wasted a lot of money and budget.
And when the real estate became a private company, the will be worse.
Many private companies build many apartments, but they didn’t sell it at first. They waited. What they waited for, they can use this ways let apartment price higher and higher. So they can make more money.
Because of that, there are many people can’t afford the high price. They can’t buy a house. They can’t live in a comfortable life.
And on the other hand, it is the environment problem.
Improve the real estate, we must use a lot of land and natural resource. So our cities become more and more crowed because there is not enough land to live.
And for natural resource, we must use a lot wood, cement and rebar. The more we use, the more environment will be destroyed
In the end, I will say the same sentence, there are two side of everything, positive and negative. Although the real estate is good for Chinese economic and can develop china a lot. But at the same time, it also can cause a lot problem. We should find a balanced way of it. That is what should our government should to do and must to face

My dream car
I chose a Black Honda Civic. It costs 18,000 dollars and has its mpg is 39 in the highway and 29 in the city. If it is average the mpg would be at least 35mpg or even more than 35. I always liked this car. My aunt had a red one, which was an older model. Every time I had chance to see it or ride in it I asked her. I was always hoping that she would give it to me when I got my license so it was my first but now that I have 20,000 dollars I decided to buy this great car as my first car instead.

I am choosing the Volkswagen Golf TDI two door because it has 42 mpg. It is $18,765 this under the $20,000 budget. It is good to have great mpg for your first car because gas prices are so high and insurance costs a lot. We will need to be able to drive longer and farther by spending less money. This car is completely stock. This car is a diesel so it gets very good mpg. When you have good mpg you will use less fossil fuels. This car looks very nice it has 170 horse power, its 2.5L engine, 5-cylinders, with a five speed automatic transmission. It has a very nice look to it as a two door as a four door it does not look as sporty. This car looks best in black because of the contours of the body shape. Silver also looks good black does show dirt well but I like the way black looks.

In Zhengzhou which is a small city in the middle of China. Chinese government encouraged developers of landed property to build buildings, big malls, entertainment centers and financial offices. By this way, Chinese GDP was pushing to raise so quickly in the position all over the world.
When the buildings completely finished but there is no businessman to invest to operate them. The empty structures just left their without people to ask. In comparison, the prize of departments of some big cities in China such as Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are difficult to believe. A lot of people who have jobs in those big cities have no house to live. Some of them are crowded in some huts, even their children cannot live with their parents. The situation of polarization of a society is biggest problem in China. The salary of a common people is about 500 dollars per mouth. Subtracting the tax, education fee, etc. they have no more income left.
My suggestions is some people could think about live in the countryside instead of in the center of a city.

Everything has two sides and even human’s emotions------evil and
goodness. At the time we glorify goodness and punish evil, do we think about
what caused it happened? People make up societies, societies make up countries
and countries make up a whole world so life is complex. We cannot resist the
evil’s happening because everything takes both sides, to be satisfied, to be
complained.
From this movie, scientists tried to find what influence a person to get on
the way to evils.
The environment effects on you to make decisions. The situation which
side you stand by determined what kind of men you will grow such as the people
live in poor regions all the thoughts they think about is for alive, for food, for
safety. This can make a people to do crimes, at least for their lives. They have
rights to keep alive, can we say that is the way of evil? When you cannot get rid
of a bad living, changes are not fit to the society but personal.
Religion controls persons mind. Almost everyone has a religion. The
power of religions and beliefs are really controlling a person’s actions. They
think to sacrifice their lives for which ideas or missions are a glory and they
believe they will have a nice after life, much be told is bodies can be died but
souls never.
We saw those volunteer military are organized with a personal leader.
These situations always happen on a place which is no government leading ship,
no disciplines and no complete laws. That kind of military as a service, belongs
to a personal property. It is harmful to their society.
We analysis the brain of human beings, try to find the part which is
working for evil happening. At the middle of our brain is acting drastic when a

Everyone deserves a chance to follow their dreams, but some people only get one shot. I love dancing, it is a sort of ways I can relax myself. I have been dancing for five more years old. Although I am not a professional dancer but I enjoy myself, appreciate every minute of dance which I step out. I am looking forward every weekend because I always join the dance party with other schools. Chasing girls is not my purpose, attracting focus from ladies is the strength of the male.
Remember the dance party one month ago, I showed myself in the middle of the crowd. They clap their hands with musical beats and shouted to me. I feel that time I was the superstar. I cannot speaking English fluently but body language helped me to express how confident I am. Lied on the floor, had a deep breath, I feel myself in the real world.

Final Lap
The final lap of the race at Talladega applies to my life because i am a NASCAR fan. This was one of the most exciting races i have ever seen. The big wreak happened late in the race which was a shock. I have never seen a race where three cars cross the line at the same time. In my opinion Jimmie Johnson should not have won the race he has to much and needs to wreak a few more times.

The article I choose that I feel best connects with me, would be the one about the Ghana, England, International Friendly match. This article relates to me in more than one way, otherwise making it a very special game for me to remember. As two familiar teams from countries I often visit and/or reside in played against each other for the first time in history internationally, I could not help but feel a bit emotional. The fact that Ghana and England drew in the football match made it an even more controversial match- for both teams- as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The article I choose that I feel best connects with me, would be the one about the Ghana, England, International Friendly match. This article relates to me in more than one way, otherwise making it a very special game for me to remember. As two familiar teams from countries I often visit and/or reside in played against each other for the first time in history internationally, I could not help but feel a bit emotional. The fact that Ghana and England drew in the football match made it an even more controversial match- for both teams- as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Nadal reaches 7th straight Montecarlo Final.
Rafael Nadal, the top 1 player in Tennis, has just won for the seventh time the first tennis clay surface tournament this year. Nadal was born in Manacor, Spain. His family was really dedicated in sports, nowadays his coach is his uncle. I have admire him since I met and hearing that he won this tournament was great and gave myself a boost to keep going and improve.
He was a great athlete always encouraged by his family. Actually he was very good at soccer too. In one moment of his life he had to choose between soccer and tennis. Now he uses every opportunity he has to follow the Spanish team and especially he watches almost everyone of Real Madrid, the team he has followed from his childhood. He is a very humble person and he has acquired the first position in the tennis world ranking by working very hard and by never giving up. I have always felt really connected to this player. He is a great hard worker. He probably is not the best technical player in the circuit, but still, his great perseverance and all the time he has dedicated to improve his body strength has brought him to the first place in the circuit. He is perseverance is incredible. Also I share his love for sports. Tennis and Soccer are my two favourite sports. Nadal also supports Real Madrid. He is too a very sympathetic person. One when a ball boy had a bloody nose he stopped in the middle of the game to help him.
In South Kent I had not many chances to follow Nadal’s trajectory this year. Writing this paper and finding this paper has been a great experience for him that gave me a boost to finish this year with a last term of much hard work and perseverance. Nadals is probably one of the people who help me lead my life. Rafael Nadal is my hero.

Connor Coughlin
Minnesota-Duluth bulldogs one their first ever national championship in Division I college hockey against Michigan. Which just so happens to be my favorite college hockey team. How this plays a role in my life is I follow hockey closely, especially college hockey. I love watching college boys play because its more hearfelt and passionate at theur level, they are working harder to try and move on to the next level. Which I can relate to in many ways because coming to south kent was a stepping stone, now theres other stepping stones to move onto the next level which I watched only a week or two ago.

Rowing
Crew is a full body workout that can be strenuous on the body so massage therapy can be very effective. Most athletes think that adding as many training hours as possible is the best way to get fitter and therefore a better outcome. This isn't the best way though. By working out vigorously then giving your body time to recover and receive massage therapy for a day in between workouts. This is much more effective then beating your body up. It also results in a more effective season. This has to do with my life because we work hard from Monday thru Saturday and by Sunday my muscles are tight and stiff annd my dad gives me massages to relieve the tension in preparation for the next week.

For example, if you are a frequent flier. You just pay less money and you can get first case ticket. That is nice. Because when I go back China, it must be a long travel. It takes a long time. If I get first case ticket, I can feel more comfortable. I don’t feel very bored and tired during the long travel.
On the other hand, some airplane company will produce some little planes with bigger seats. Because of this, we don’t need to pay more money and get a better seat then before. It is very nice.

Can Evil Be Predicted?

Can evil be predicted? In this paper, it will expose 4 different
studies/experiments showing how evil can be predicted and or explained. First
starting with a voluntary experiment, religion, a study of the brain, and following
orders. Can evil be predicted, in these experiments, yes.
To begin with, a voluntary experiment with Stanford University students and
a professor. Several students volunteered to be prisoners and several volunteered to
be prison guards. The guards were told to run the prison any style they pleased.
Within a couple days in, they turned on to harsh treatment of the prisoners. They
acted out instances of torcher and humiliation. For example, stripping prisoners
naked, forcing them to do numerous amounts of pushups, spraying them with
freezing cold fire extinguishers. No reasoning behind these acts other than it was
their prison, and they turned on A-hole mode on just because they could. Maybe it
was the freedom that was given to the guards that could’ve predicted it.
Secondly, religion in this film was regarded to terminate the evil from a
person’s body. As in the film the murderer that was convicted, asked if to be
baptized. It was a controversial act, an outrage to some.
A study of the brain was conducted to determine what causes evil acts, or
what prevents them. The students and professors conducting this, observed brain
activity by putting people in a cat scan machine while presenting them with texts of
scenarios, and there decisions would be monitored. In some of the cases they put,
would you smother a baby if you were African women with a newborn child. You
and your townspeople are hiding in a safe location with enemy soldiers nearby.
Your baby cries out and you either smother your baby to death to save you and the
others or you let your baby cry out and everyone would be found an most likely
killed including the baby. Can evil be predicted in this situation? Maybe in this case
some would consider both acts evil. So evil could be predicted just by looking at this
situation whatever decision you make, it’s going to be wrong in some ones eyes.
Following orders is the last exploitation in this essay. In parts of Africa it’s a
lawless land with civil war and rebellion. Young men’s family’s are killed and raped
in front of their eyes, only to be forced to become a soldier in the rebels. To predict
this evil take a look at the leader to see what orders are being given. If a man is
going to follow orders blindly to kill a whole village of innocent people, evil can be
predicted. What makes this happen to the man pulling the trigger? Possibly fear for
his own life for if he doesn’t follow his general’s orders then his life is in danger.
Overall, the experience shared through the classroom could be described as
slightly disturbed. How can something like that occur? The most infectious thing in
the world isn’t bacteria nor a parasite, but an idea.

Situation is where people are faced with conditions where they are inclined to make choices - these choices maybe be “evil,” depending on the choices they make and in some cases either choices taken maybe categorized as evil. An example from the movie we watched was where a woman was faced with a dilemma where she had to either kill her baby to prevent her family from being killed or to make her baby live and allow her family to be found. With this choice though other people may say that it was evil to kill other members of the family other individuals will also say it is not right to kill an innocent person.
Religion is also another major part in evil and the differentiation of “evil” and good. In some religions it is believed that in order to express their religion it calls for violence and they also believe that doing this will take them to heaven. Others also believe that if you do “evil” you can easy be forgiving by being baptized like the serial killer also in the movie that we watched.

Evil, a word that has always been associated with the soul or entity of a person, now in modern days scientist are questioning if it is connected to the brain, if it is just a chemical reaction made by our body. The video with the purpose of explain this idea shows four examples: an experiment that is done, now to regular people to see which parts of the brain operate in different situations a psychological study in a university, the problematic situation that the war in Congo is provoking and the baptism of a person who mutilated and killed 17 persons. The idea of evil coming from the brain suggests that humans are set to be evil but that they can be evil depending in the case and situation.
Every person has different moral structure so their scale of right and wrong is different of the others, also some people would to sacrifice more or less for different things. Depending on the matter and the situation our brain acts differently. The first experiment is trying to analyze all the different answers that people can do and the part of the brain that they used. In the video two volunteers were asked question that were connected to their moral scales and to their conception of what is right and what is wrong. In the one of the examples a man was asked if he will stop and bring a woman, who had just been knifed, to the hospital. The man said yes but the scientist say that even though almost everyone would have stopped and brought that person to a hospital if the situation changed and if that person was in another part of the world and the help that the person had to provide was indirect he would let the person die. If a person could help another in Congo indirectly the person would be more reluctant to help.
The civil war in Congo has taken many lives since it started. Also it has provoked many people leave their homes and everything they own. Many people have moved to refugee camp. The state soldiers had received orders from their commanders to move these people to refugee camps. The soldiers are abusing of their power and killing and violating many civilians. The soldiers who had provably been poor to are now using their power to feel better and as a escape goat for all their sadness. In this case again this situation is making the soldiers evil and making them behave against other whom not a long ago were their equals.
The head of the psychological department of a university designed a experiment to see if humans who had never been evil if there is a situation change the humans can become evil. University volunteer students were used in the experiment as guards and prisoners. The classes were set as a prison. The head of the psychological department created a fake prison to see how the fake guards would when they had power. After 2 days the fake prisoners rebelled. The guards stopped the rebellion and started to degrade and torture the prisoners in order to humiliate them. The power had made the guards evil. The head of the department was the superintendent the fake prison. After some days he realized the he also had become evil and he did not really wanted to stop the experiment. The experiment was stopped when another psychologist made the fake superintendent realize this.
A man that killed 17 people and mutilated them had asked the church for forgiveness- All his sins trouble him and that he is very sorry about all of them. He wants to be forgiven by god to be free of all his errors so he can rest in peace. A reverend of the church is asked to do this sacrament. Many people tried to persuade him of not doing this. He objects that humans have mistakes that in different situations people react differently. But above all of these reasons his opinion is that God forgives all of the persons who are sorry for their sins. Everyone had sin in his life maybe ones more than others but everyone deserves to be forgiven.
Evil is a created in ones mind and depends of many factors: situation, education… With concrete combination of all this factors many people can be evil in a more or less quantity. It is clearly impossible to eradicate evil from the world. Everyone be evil at certain times. Even though evil can not be completely eradicated if people, mostly when they are children, are treated well and with love the people would act the same way giving this love to other and by that making less the chances of situations that provoke evil.

In our people thoughts, there are two different kinds of things, ‘evil’ and justice. ‘evil’ is a very bad thing. So what can cause people become ‘evil’.
1. Situational
Every day, people live in same situations. People usually have a one settled situation in their life. For example, in the morning, a person wants to drink coffee and eats bread or others food. Then, he kisses his wife, the goes to work. When he gets to company, he needs to work. He needs to report to his boss. He needs to make the essay. When the work is over, he goes home and watches TV, has dinner with his family. Then he goes to bed. In a word, people usually live in one situation. Maybe sometimes it will be a little change. But the normal situation hardly changes.
If the normal situation changed, people felt uncomfortable. Just like my first time go to America. Everything is new. I need to begin a new situation.
But, if the change is too much that people can’t stand it. ‘‘evil’’ may be happens.
For instance, a man if very rich, however, because of financial tsunami, he lost his company and money. He lives in a bad situation. It changed too much. If he can’t stand the change, he may be crazy and do some crazy things. Then, ‘evil’ happened.
2. Religion
Different religion ideas also can cause ‘evil’.
For example, in Islam, this religion doesn’t allow woman wear shorts and woman can’t show their face, especially in public. And if others who don’t believe Islam go into Islam church. The Islamist may be cat down your ears and let you go out. Therefore, some countries and organizations feel angry and they have contradiction. When they can’t solve the contradiction, wars happened. ‘evil’ came.
And religion can control people thinking. For example, many people believe god because of religion.
3. Brain activities.
People thought and behaviors are controlled by brain activities. If people have some brain disease or problem, ‘evil’ will happen.
When people have some brain problems, maybe they don’t know who they are. And they will do some crazy things. For example, they might kill a people without reason, maybe they just for fun. Because of brain problems, they can’t control themselves.
4. Orders
Therefore if people control people brain, situation, their thinking, maybe they can control people. They can order them do anything they want. For example, government can use this way the train very useful and powerful armies to protect their country.
5. Is it possible?
I just say, maybe. Because it is very hard, but I believe if people invited how to control people, it will cause many problems. First, there must be many people don’t allow use this ways. It is not humanity. Who want to be controlled. Second, if we can’t control them, there must be disaster in our world.

At Friday, we watched a TV program in 3rd form space. It is talking about the "Evil" in our normal, new and the old society. The program showed us the different part that we can't see in our normal life. What did the different goverment in the world. And also, in the program some doctors did some scientific stuff to know how the people think when they are in the evil scene. And it shows us exactly what the Evil mean, and we can feel it.
We live in a very peaceful Country now, and we have a great environment for life and study. But we gonna know how hard id the people work for todays life. Evil is something that people can’t explain why or where it comes from without experimental proof. It can just be created in the mind without influence such as Jeffrey Dahmer. It can also be created through situations such as the experiments conducted by Dr. Zimbardo. Evil can also be created through orders such as the situation happening in Congo.
Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the world’s most evil people according to most people. What he did to people was sick and mental. He wasn’t influenced to become evil by anyone and wasn’t put in a bad situation. His evilness came from his own mind and sick ideas in his head. After bearing his consequences and the horrible things he did, Dahmer asked to be baptized, which is believed to wash away your sins and forgive you of your sins. This was an extremely controversial topic and I’m sure the families of his victims didn’t want him forgiven.

When Zimbardo took a group of innocent boys and locked them up in a fake prison with another group of innocent kids as their guards, they turned evil within the second day. This was because the prisoners were getting agitated and tried a rebellion which made the guards want to make sure the prisoners were doing what they were supposed to. The guards made them do outlandish things and degraded them. This shows how situations can make innocent people evil.
Another example of where evil can appear is through orders. This is what is happening in Congo. A military leader is giving his soldiers instructions to attack a village and rape the women in front of their husbands. This can turn starving people who need food to join the army and then get orders to do ridiculous and cruel things. It turns people evil when they are made to do something evil.

Ree's egg flying.
Today in the class we made model for egg. We drop the egg with model and then If egg is not break then its success. I made model like bungee jumping I connected every rope with rubber band and the end of rope I connect basket with kind of hook and I locked up with rubber band. I tried by myself and then I made it. So I take the egg model down slowly, but I met a problem there was a roof. But rope was really long so my egg model makes a good landing and I protected my egg.

Today we try to use some stuff without type to protect egg I used a bottle and a piece of plastic I try to use plastic let the egg speed slow down and put lots of pepper displace cotton balls. Finally the plastic is useful but the speed still to high then my egg broke a little bit. The important part is how can let egg slow down it can protect egg.

For my individual egg dropping project I made a cushioned protection. I used to socks and 3 winter hats all wrapped around each other. I dropped it from the forth form space. It worked perfectly leaving the egg at the same exact condition before I threw it. That was what happened to my egg.

Surprisingly the egg broke because the egg was not secure enough as it was, padded with cotton balls. The structure was also evidently bad, after it fell apart in-flight as my "parachute structure" was destroyed.
Next time i will think a little outside the box,or a little simpler as some of my classmates did - for example Pat Curry with the socks and hat approach. I hope to improve with the mistakes i have made next time we drop an egg again.

The majority of the class used parachutes to slow down the speed that the egg fell to the ground in an attempt to keep it from breaking. My approach was a structure that housed my egg and padded it for the impact. I first used a red disposable cup and padded the insides with a ton of cotton balls that surrounded the egg. the structure around the cup, was a series of popsicle sticks. I went with a square design on the top and bottom with 4 sticks to make a square on each end, then I wanted to glue four sticks around the body of the cup, also supporting the two square ends. Those four sticks in my view acted as support beams. They weren't properly held because the glue wouldn't dry in time, so I used rubber bands as an alternative that pulled both square ends together with the red cup and support sticks separating the two ends. I also used padding in between the cup and beams to try and soften the landing when it hit the ground, that way it would reduce the chance of the red cup breaking in the impact. In the test, when i dropped it, i believe i rolled it wrong or dropped it too close to the wall. But overall the design failed, my plan was to go for a light structure that could handle the impact, or the popsicle sticks take most of the force of the impact and break that way the cup would hit the ground with little or no force.

In the test, when i dropped it, i believe i rolled it wrong or dropped it too close to the wall. But overall the design failed, my plan was to go for a light structure that could handle the impact, or the popsicle sticks take most of the force of the impact and break that way the cup would hit the ground with little or no force.

Yesterday, we did the same Project that we have been doing for almost a week. The project consists in building a structure that will protect the egg enough to be thrown from the 4th Form Space without the egg breaking. This project had some changes from the starting rules of the first time. Yesterday the groups were split, now every person had to do its own structure for his egg individually. The materials were not provided by teachers. We could use whatever material we wanted to use except for tape. Also the structure could not be bigger than an acorn squash.
After my class was given the rules I started to gather materials. My idea was to make a parachute to make the fall slower so the egg did not break. I found a plastic bag, wooden sticks, cotton balls, rubber band and nylon cable ties. I use rubber bands to hold the bag to the cup. Then I made a structure inside the cup with wooden sticks for the egg and I used cotton balls as padding. I tried this parachute based structure and it did not look like it was going to work because the parachute was too small. After my experiments I looked for a bigger bag and I cut a zip lock bag in half and then glued the half’s to make a bigger parachute. This time I used nylon cable ties to hold the parachute to the cup. This structure had a better chance to work. When I was going up the stairs to the fourth form space the nylon cable ties broke and then they weren’t holding the parachute right. The egg and the structure were too heavy for the parachute. When I threw it the ties broke and they stopped holding the parachute and the structure together. The egg simply shattered.
If we have a next try, my idea will be determined again by the materials provided. If the materials and the rules are the same for the next try I will make my parachute bigger and the joints much stronger so the cup holding the egg would not break the joints. Also the structure in the cup would be stronger so in case the parachute fails the egg would still land safely

Today we did the egg project again. But I failed.
This time we did our single job only by our self. We don’t have enough things to do this project and Cohen said, “ Life never fair.” That ‘s why he can’t be a human but always a monkey?
I thought we will weigh the thing again so I gave my parachute to Keenan. So is failed… But also I’m not a luck guy today. In my project thing, there is six side of it. Four of side can disperse the gravity that can protect the egg, but 2 side can’t work. I’m very unlucky, so I broken…
This time, I learn a lot. Before u do something, we should know all the details very well. And don’t share your efforts to anybody.

EGG Program
Today we did egg program by ourselves. It is very funny. I learn a lot from it.
In today’s project, we can’t use tapes and teachers didn’t provide anything. We just can use some material from 3rd from space. And we need to find them. At the beginning of it, I don’t know how to do it.
Then, I come down and think. I think I should let the speed of egg slow down and I need to use something soft to protect the egg. So I come up with an idea about parachute.
But then I face a serious problem, there is not enough material I can use. Because the first group they bring all the cotton balls. Then I just used bag to instead of it.
They I used to bags to make parachute. I used scissor to cut two bags to two big pieces. And then I used white glue to put two pieces together. And I cut the whole piece to an octagon. And I fastened the line on every corner.
For the second part, I use a 1/3 bottle, I just used the head of it. I put the bag in it for protecting the egg and put my parachute and bottle together. In the end, I put my egg inside, and finished.
When I throw my egg project from 4th form place, something happened was a little funny. My egg flew on the light. Then, Mr. Galusha and Mr. Cohon helped me get it back. Thank you very much.
For the result, of course not broke.
From this subject, I know how to make something well, how to thinking, what should I do when I face some problems, for example I change my ideas and use other things to instead of it, how to make a plan and how to be creative.

DROPPING EGG
Today I have to dropped an egg from the fourth floor without breaking it and I came up with an idea, first I found a peanut can that about 8 inch wide and 4 inch tall then I used a lot of toilet paper to cover the egg all the way and then put it in the can and lock it with the lid. The I used a nylon bag to attached it with the lid by the glue, so when I drop the can the bag will be the egg's parachute. Finally I did dropped the egg from the fourth flood, the parachute not working really well but since I fill the can with a lot of toilet paper in it to protects the egg, the egg is alright, not even a smallest crack.

When trash bags aren't fair!!

Today we needed to find our own materials scattered around the Third Form Space and constuct an object no bigger than a acorn squash that could keep an egg from breaking after being thrown from the Fourth Form Space. It was every man for himself and materials were scarce so people had to make do with what they had.
In the begining my idea was to use a paper plate as a parachute and a gatorade bottle suspended from it filled with cotton balls and my egg. I really thought the paper plate was great until I filled my bottle with cotton balls and it fell like a rock. I knew then that mine was a total failure because of how fast it fell and that Chen told me it wouldn't work. I was basically out of ideas when I remmeber that there is always extra trash bags underneath existing ones so I snagged one with the last minutes until egg drop and clipped it on.
The trash bag was a success because the Fourth Form Space was the perfect height so that the bag fully inflated right before the ground so it slowed up incredibly but also didn't get taken by the winds. The egg drop was a success and I'm wondering if there will be a third round with different rules.

04/11/2011 When eggs fly!
Today we had the first chance to test our idea with limited materials. It didn’t work out perfectly because we made a small mistake, anyways we are looking forward for our next try to show that we can do it.
We were thinking to make a structure but because we lacked of enough wooden sticks we made as much padding as we could and we put the egg in the middle.
Marshmallows, cotton balls were in the center. The whole structure was wrapped with bubble rap and wooden sticks were taped in the sides.
When we tried the first time the egg was perfect.
In our real try the egg broke. This happens because one of the rubber bands slipped and fell off making the egg move to a side and it broke.
To star we started with a brain storm to know the structure. We had some disagrees but we all ended with a common idea. Some people didn’t work as much as others but our team hopes to improve for our second try.

Dropping Egg
We made a structure to protect an egg with several materials such as bubble wrap, cotton balls, tape, sticks, and marshmallows. First, we use marshmallows to surround the egg and tape it. And then we used the bubble wrap to surround the egg. An at last, we use stick to make a structure for landing with tape. Our team work was quite good. If we get 1000$ and divide it, everyone will get 200$ because we all worked well. We will make it lighter and safer. Also we will make structure of parachute which is more creative.

Second, Use the wooden sticks to make a support to protect the egg.
Third, We put egg in to the bag with lots of air inside. Also, we put some cotton balls on the both side of our egg project. When, we did a fantastic job!
We did a pretty good job of the team work. The idea come from Brian and Bohan. Elvan and Ree help a lots. We make the idea, in the job, we change our program because of the material is not enough for our fantastic program, so we broke 1 egg at last. Ree is a spy for looking at the other's group idea and also be a security. And Elvan, Bohan and Brian did the eggs job. But at first we thought we should did 6! So we waste lots of time. So all of us did a good job so we should all get 250$ (1000/4).
Today we learn a lot of things from this project. For example teamwork, science, make a plan, divide jobs to each other and how to be creative .
Therefore learn teamwork during making egg things and when we making egg things we think about science and we need step to make egg things so we made plan together and we divide our jobs to save time and our egg thing was different so we made our egg things so creative.
It was really good time.

When eggs fly
So basically we as a group were thinking of the best structure possible after we found out what new materials we were going to use:
Sticks
Cotton Balls
Bubble Wrap
Rubber Band
Tape
So then we came to the conclusion that a triangular structure will hold more force than a square shaped one because we though a triangular one will hold more shock than a square shaped one. We also though that we should make a harness made by rubber bands - tied to the eggs to hold it in place for the fall

The Third Form is starting a daily blog. The blog will give a daily update of projects and activities taking place in their Entrepreneurial Studies class. Students are currently working on an egg drop project. In groups of three, students were given simple instructions to protect the egg using specific materials that would keep an egg from breaking when dropped 3 stories high. Please check for updates daily on their successes/strategies as they embark on their task. Also, feel free to leave feedback where you see fit.
